Here are some important guidelines following root canal therapy:

• Avoid chewing until anesthetic numbness has worn off.

• Unless a permanent crown is already in place, avoid chewing on hard foods.   A tooth with a root canal is more susceptible to fracture until a final crown or restoration is placed.

• If an antibiotic was prescribed, please take as directed.
