Dental Implants in Kansas City
Here are some important guidelines following the placement of dental implants:
Avoid chewing until anesthetic numbness has worn off.
Normally, there is very little bleeding once an implant is placed. If instructed to bite on gauze, do so until any minor bleeding has subsided.
Avoid smoking, vaping and other tobacco products.
Avoid direct contact with implant or surrounding tissues for 1-2 weeks or until otherwise directed.
If bone grafting was done simultaneously with implant placement, avoid drinking through a straw, chewing gum and vigorous rinsing of your mouth.
Mild to moderate discomfort may occur. Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) will generally be adequate to manage any pain. If prescription pain medication was prescribed, please follow label instructions.
Finish all antibiotics prescribed.
